2009 Goals

December 9th, 2009 at 03:08 am

I figured now is as good of a time as any to post the results of my 2009 goals.
Even though my goals were not very grand by comparison to some of the things others on here have accomplished, it was still a somewhat of a challenge for me.
Especially with all the extra money that I've had to spend as of late in various repairs and replacements.

I hearby declare that all my goals were achieved. Yay!

- Re-paid myself the money that I spent
on the Dec. 08 muffler repair. In addition I also had to make a few repairs to my car since then and have also re-paid myself for those.

- Added $400 to my E-Fund which brings the current total to approxamately $2097.

- Saved for my 2009 IRA and put $4000 in for the year.

- Started saving for my 2010 IRA. I wasn't sure how much I could save but I ended up with $690. That goal will continue through the new year.

- Had my first ever yard sale. It didn't go well at all but it was something I wanted to try.

- Took my vacation to Costa Rica.

- And have paid at least $100 or more every month on the Principal of my mortgage.

- Although my Travel Fund was not specifically included into my goals I managed to continue saving into it. I currently have $2,840 in it. And the trip to Costa Rica was paid for before I got on the plane.

I haven't decided on my 2010 goals yet except to continue adding to my IRA and
continue paying extra on my mortgage.
With times being tough, and may get even worse I'm not going to make very aggressive goals. But I'll see what I can do with what I have.

Those were some great goals and I'm very impressed at how well you did with them! Here's hoping 2010 is just as successful for you. Smile

Thanks Denise. How nice of you to say. Hope your goals for 2010 go great too.

I hope they do, too! lol The ones I have may be too lofty so I think I need to scale back a little bit and be more practical. Ugh! But it is what it is. Smile

I don't know. I like to be conservative on these sorts of things. But being lofty on goals might entice a person to try harder. I should make a set of mild goals and a set of much loftier goals and see what I can do. I'm always up for an experiment. :-)

    Way to go.
Anyone that can hit their goals in this economy is doing something right. :-)

Thanks Rick. yeah its always a challenge.

Well, toyguy, we could both do that - set two sets of goals and see what we can do. Perhaps a project for 2010, one we can both blog about? Smile

Thats a great idea Denise. I know I wont be able to accomplish much of the lofty goals, BUT I might be able to get a little further ahead. My normal goals I'll be posting up pretty soon on my sidebar. my lofty goals are going to be a little more outrageous and I'll only post them on a separate post. Keep me updated if you decide to try this. It could be fun (and profitable).

Oh, I've already decided to do it! Like you, I'm going to put the normal goals on the sidebar and post the loftier ones separately. The way this economy is going I don't know how much I will accomplish in the realm of loftier goals but this might be a great way to find out. Smile

    Let's do it!

Sounds like you're doing very well....i didn't know you finally made it to Costa Rica. Did you write about it? I'll have to dig back in your blog. Smile

    Thanks Fern and Petunia.

I'm glad you were able to find my Costa Rica pics Fern.
I think it was during a time when you had a lot of things going on yourself.

Next time try being apart of a consignment sale. You make good money with that.

Thanks Fruitbowlk. I had some luck with Craigslist once.
I'm not sure if the consignment sale is for me but I may give it a try sometime.

How are the 2010 goals coming along?

Hi Denise. I pretty much have my 2010 goals figured out and just have to post them. Its a little more difficult making the "lofty" goals. I have some stuff written down for it though. Some of them will still be realistic and some will be a bit far fetched. I hope your goal list is coming along nicely too Denise.

This is off topic, but I just realized you live in Ohio. Me too!

Yes I knew that you live in Ohio too. I live in Medina. Its near Akron.

Good going on having those 2010 goals figured out! I look forward to reading your entry on that.

I'm trying to get the man person to cooperate with me on the goals thing and it isn't going swimmingly. Wink He isn't anti-goal setting but getting him to actually help isn't easy. If he doesn't help soon I'll just do it myself with the understanding that his cooperation is necessary and they might change. I'll also do some personal ones. Seeing them in writing does help me!
