a few notes for today

November 4th, 2009 at 12:10 am

My vacation is dwindling down and almost over with. Today was a fairly tame day again but overall a pretty good day.

I voted today. The only really important thing was Issue 3 about allowing Casino gambling in Ohio. I voted for it. I'm not much of a gambler myself but I think people should be able to if they want. Besides lots of people head to the 5 states that surround Ohio to gamble there.

I also browsed at washing machines cause I have to get one fairly soon. I'm waiting for the cash for clunkers thing to start cause I think that will save me a little bit. The washer I liked best at Home Depot was a GE for $499.

Then I went with a friend and his son that were used car shopping. I think they ended up with a pretty good one considering the amount of money they had to spend.

Ohh and the big news for today is that I cashed in some credit card reward points for a $10 Regal Cinema card. I want to see the new Nightmare on Elm Street movie when it comes out. But I was thinking I might be dissapointed in it. At least now I'll basically get to see it for free.

When you get ready to buy on the appliances can you check around online before you go into the store, there may be online ordering discounts or even coupons available on the same model elsewhere. Shop the model that you like.

I'm going to be looking at those deals myself. As far as I can tell our appliances are in pretty decent shape, but depending on the deals available, I may have to dive in.

    Free movies. YEAH!!

    Thanks Lux.
Yes I am going to check around a bit more and look online. There really are not many stores near me that sell appliances anymore. Home Depot usually seems to be the best deals. But with luck I might find a sale or discount.

I've love to replace my 14 year old washer for one of those super energy efficient ones, but all the ones i've seen seem to be going for $1,000 a pop, which is crazy.

Wow, yeah thats a lot of money Fern. But there really are some nice ones under 800. And some good "cheap models that are like 200 - 500. I think they might be cheaper in my area though than in yours.

The one I looked looks perfect for me. It had a pretty large wash capacity so I don't have to make 20 loads instead of jus one> And it had a good energy rating and good reviews. I'm just basically shopping around for ptice. Ohh my washer is over 14 years old too.

    Thanks for the message Fern.

The appliances are now so much better than they were even 10 years ago, it's amazing. When we got our new fridge it did lead to a noticeable drop in our electric bill the very first month. Also, I think that used cars are the way to go in many cases... less money up front, and less for insurance and other costs, too, in most cases.

Thanks Jerry. Yeah I'm looking forward to the new washer for the energy savings as well as making laundry day a lot more pleasurable.
