Vacation pics number 2

June 5th, 2009 at 06:06 pm

Here are some more Costa Rica pictures.
Thanks to everyone who took a look yesterday and for the comments.

Howler Monkey.

Oxcarts were what they first used to transport coffee so they are a very important symbol in Costa Rica.

This water slide was at the vulcanic hot springs. I thought it was shallow so I almost drowned when I flew out of there into 9 feet deep water. I was fine but a girl had to pull me to shallower water.

A picture of Arenal Vulcano from the hot springs.

The gardens at the hot springs.

I remember seeing lots of miniature-sized ox carts just like that one that they were selling as souvenirs. I was tempted to buy one becus it would certainly be a conversation piece, but it didn't exactly go with anything in my house.

Those howler monkeys certainly do howl. I remember hearing all kinds of wild, crazy noises in the jungle after dark. It truly sounded like a jungle.

    thx. for bringing back memories.

Thanks Fern. The oxcarts were all over that area and all different sizes.

I was in the city at night time so I didn't get to hear all the sounds. I know jungles are noisy places sometimes. When I camped in Uganda it wasn't terribly noisy at night but there were a lot of odd sounds that were a little scary. Especially when you could hear an animal going past your tent.
