Tada!!!!

August 24th, 2007 at 06:12 am

Hi everyone. I'm new on here and this is my first blog of all time. Well I'm not really so new. I've been reading all your blogs for a long time now. It feels like I know many of you without even ever having spoken to you.
I have my doubts on how much I'll actually blog. I already spend too much time on the computer so that may be a bad thing.
I'm fortunately not in debt. I only have a mortgage and its a fairly low mortgage at that. I'm also a pretty good saver.
But I do not make very much money so there isn't all that much usually to save. I also hope to use this blog to get myself more organized and de-cluttered. I've been working on that for a couple years and have made good progress but definately need to do more. I figure if it took me somewhere around 40 years to get cluttered that a few more years to get myself de-cluttered isn't so bad.
I really do love this website. Its the only blog I usually read and I'm addicted to it now.

Thanks for listening.
Patrick.

Welcome Patrick, glad you have joined us. Patrick, my husband and I have never made a lot of money, but we have always been careful to save at least 10% of every dollar we have ever made and we are pretty comfortble now. My highest earning year, I made $8300!

    Welcome Patrick!

A friend of mine said the same thing to me too. He says he doesn't make enough to save... and it's true (sort of). He's struggling as it is. However, I believe that's also exactly why he's struggling... because he doesn't save at all.

The thing is, what's really important is to have the system and the mindset in place to save, and it doesn't take much to do that. Even if it's, literally, only a dollar at a time, it's enough money to get into the habit of saving money. That, to me, is much more important than how money much we save... especially in the beginning.

But that's enough tirade from me. Smile

Thanks for the welcome and advise BA. I do manage to save a bit and I think that is the most important part. But the magority of what I make goes into utilities and the like. Plus I do have a few non-frugal habits. Like drinking pop for example and eating out. Those are my worse things but at the same time I don't really want to give those things up. At least I don't drink alcohol very much and don't do drugs. I couldn't afford that.
